About Open Hydro

We are on a mission to mobilise billions of climate finance to fulfil hydropower’s potential in the clean energy transition and contribute to tackling the climate change crisis. Hydropower is the largest provider of renewable energy sources globally and still needs to double its capacity to achieve global net-zero targets. However, climate finance is falling short, and hydropower only receives 2.5% of total climate-aligned renewable energy investments.

Our work focuses on companies securing the resources they need to grow hydropower’s capacity by demonstrating how hydropower assets contribute to mitigating climate change, uncovering opportunities and avoiding risks, which encourages investment.
